Magnet #576 - Chester A. Arthur (1881-1885)Chester Arthur was sworn in as the 21st U.S. president today, following the death of James Garfield, who was shot two months earlier.
So after reading a couple of articles about "Chet," here's my favorite, even if I can't find a second source for it.
His wife passed away before he took office. She was the love of his life, and in her honor, he had a stained glass window installed at St. John's Episcopal Church.
At night, they would light up the window, so he could see it from his office. It's apparently still there to this day.
Sniffle.
